18-Night Hawaiian Cruise & Charleston, SC - Jan-Mar 2018
At Sea

We spent 5 days at sea going to Hawaii and another 5 days at sea on the return trip. The first couple of days in each direction we were in a low pressure area so the sea was very choppy. At one point we were told the swells were as high as 18 feet. Several people, including Dale were adversely effected by the rocking of the ship. Fortunately this only lasted a couple of days each way and other than one day Dale was able to enjoy doing things on ship.

While on ship we spent time by and in the pool and hot tubs. There are two pool areas, one is on an open deck, the other, where we spent our time, has a retractable dome so it was like being at an indoor pool. We also took part in some trivia contests, attended a lot of the entertainment, got in some reading and movie watching time, and attended some inter-denominational services.

The inter-denominational services were congregation led. So people attending spoke on how God is working in their lives and some brave souls got up and led us in hymn singing. Ernie opened the first service with some prayers from "Valley of Vision" a collection of Puritan prayers, he was then asked to open the next service which he did with a spur-of-the-moment prayer.

The entertainment we attended included shows on the main stage by the ship's singers, dancers, and band plus other entertainers including singers, musicians, magician/comedian, stand-up comic, and juggler/comedian. Other venues are BB King Blues Club where a version of BB King's All Stars plays and Billboard Onboard where two piano players play and sing Popular, Rock, R&B, and Country music. One of the piano players liked to play complicated melodies, so one night Ernie requested The Who's Baba O'Riley, the piano player said "Someone requested Baba O'Riley, wish us luck", then he performed it really well.

One day at the pool Dale heard someone refer to the statues at the end of the pool as dolphins, a picture of the dolphin statues is included in this set of Pictures.
