Riverboat Cruise & Road Trip - March-April 2014
Idaho

On our way to Idaho we passed through Arizona, Nevada, and Utah.
    Arizona, Nevada, Utah
    Bear Lake
    Idaho

Arizona, Nevada, Utah
In Arizona we went through Flagstaff, on the western side of the mountains after passing Flagstaff we drove through some heavy snow fall. About an hour out of Flagstaff we exited the interstate and headed north on a state highway. As we neared Kingman we saw one of the most beautiful sunsets we have ever seen. We stayed in Arizona near the Nevada border for a few days to relax and do laundry. There was no internet access where we stayed so each day Ernie went to the library to work on the website and check if there were any notices of due bills. Each day at the library there was a person who would sporatically speak out loud saying something that might elicit a response from Ernie. Not wanting to get into a possibly confrontational conversation Ernie would not respond. Each day when Ernie was leaving the library he would tell this man to have a good day and say "God Bless" to him. On the last day when leaving Ernie again said this and the man called out something like, "Do you really believe in God?" Ernie replied that he did. After a short discussion about this the man said he supposed that if he were a Christian he would not have gotten cancer. Ernie told him that no he may have gotten cancer, but that if he prayed in a faithful manner and it was God's will He might cure him of it. Ernie was really happy that God had provided this opportunity to share his faith.
One of the days we were staying at this location we went to a free outdoor country show, at the show we met some people from the church that sponsored the show. They gave us a card with the address of the church and the next day being Sunday we attended service at the church. It was a very good service, with a sermon that was Biblically based. The people were very friendly and we enjoyed fellowship with them.
The next morning we headed toward Idaho. Passing through Nevada we went through Las Vegas on the interstate. We did not see any lerge hotels nor casinos. We later learned that Las Vegas is an expansive area and that "The Strip" is only a 1.5 mile stretch of one road.
As we went through Utah we saw some of the massive buildings of the Morons. Some of them reminded us of pagan worship temples. (Pictures)

Bear Lake
We spent the night near the Bear River area, then in the morning followed the interstate a short ways before getting onto some secondary US highways to go over the mountains to Bear Lake. This was considerably longer than staying on the interstate, but the scenery made it well worthwhile. A short ways past Bear Lake we stopped at the Paris Grill in Parris, ID for a really nice lunch with friendly service. (Pictures)

Idaho
We stayed near Pocatello, ID for a couple of nights. While in the area we visited Twin Falls and Craters of the Moon National Monument.

Twin Falls
Twin falls were two falls next to each other. One of the falls has been rerouted to use for electric generation, the rerouting has created two small falls. Now there is one large fall and two small falls. It is a very picturesque and interesting place to visit. (Pictures)

Craters of the Moon National Monument
As the National Park Service website for Craters of the Moon National Monument says, it is a vast ocean of lava flows with scattered islands of cinder cones and sagebrush. It is a very interesting place to visit. (Pictures)
