Kennedy Space Center Cocoa Beach
After spending a few days visiting friends on the gulf coast of Florida we decided to cross the state and visit the Kennedy Space Center. We found a motel in Cocoa Beach that was not far from the center and was reasonably priced. The evening we arrived in Cocoa Beach Ernie went on line to get information about Kennedy Space Center. He discovered it is $50 per person admittance, the center is run by a private company, and some of what we would be interested in seeing was not open at this time. He started wondering if it was something we really wanted to do.
In the morning Ernie mentioned to Dale what he had found out about the center and suggested she check it out to see if she thought it would be worth it to go there. Dale looked up information on the center and agreed with Ernie that we would probably not find it very interesting. We decided to go to the beach which was just a short walk from where we were staying.
Most of the places we stay include free breakfast served in a room off the lobby. This motel was different, they gave us a slip with 4 or 5 choices for breakfast. We walked to a diner about a mile from the motel and had a really good breakfast, we did have to pay for our juices. After breakfast we put on our bathing suits, put on sun block, then walked the short distance to the beach. We did not have a blanket with us. on the way to the beach we passed a Dollar Tree. We went into the Dollar Tree to see if we could get a cheap blanket, there were no blankets but we bought a tablecloth to use as a beach blanket.
It is a very nice beach. We went in the water for a little while, Dale wading and Ernie doing some body surfing. We then sat on the beach "blanket" for a while, then walked a mile up the beach. Upon returning to our "blanket" we sat on the beach for a little while before returning to the motel. All in all it was a very nice day and we do not think we would have enjoyed the space center as much as our day at the beach.
