". Information about the "Recycled Roadrunner" is on this Roadside America webpage, many other pages come up with a Google search.
". When we went near them, at one end we saw what we thought was cans left over from a beer party. As we got nearer to the cans we realized that they were paint spray cans. All the cars are covered with several layers of different colored paint. Since we saw some cattle at a distance, but definitely in the pasture, we thought that what appears to be a tradition of dropping the cans on the ground when done painting, is a really bad idea. As we walked back to the car we saw a woman probably in late 30s or early 40s walking in with a can of paint, so it is not only foolish teens doing this.
" is in a former hotel, but it is not a memorial to the hotel. The displays setup are in honor of the people who made a difference in the history of the town and surrounding area. We found some of the displays interesting. One thing Ernie was surprised to learn was that several of the Indian Chiefs lived to their late 80s and one to 94, this happen though they lived a hard life and was during a time that most people had a life expectancy of mid-forties. There is a wikipedia page about the museum.
". The lower level of the barn is a museum of the history of the barn and the history of the town of Arcadia and the surrounding area. The upper level is a large area that is rented for special events such as weddings. They have music concerts on a regular schedule in the upper room. After we left here is when we went to "The Boundary on 66
" for lunch, see the restaurants link on the itinerary page.
" less than 2 miles from the motel where we would be staying. It is at the same exit from the interstate as the motel, less than a mile in one direction to the motel and less than a mile in the opposite direction to the eagle. We went to take a picture of the eagle before checking in at the motel. The statue stands in front of a business.
" near the speaker. We thought this is nice until we started reading the signs and discovered it is a memorial for worshiping Mother Earth. What we thought was a large angel statue hanging on the side of the building was actually called Mother Earth. The statue of Jesus is much smaller than the other carving and is in a location that it is not very noticeable. We later checked their website and discovered that someone calling himself prophet claims to have had a vision of Heaven, almost identical to the one described in Revelation that John had, and that he was told to build this memorial to Mother Earth. None of the artwork was done for the memorial, it is all things the owner of the business had and that were incorporated into the memorial. The Mother Earth carving is the business's logo.Last updated: apr 03 2019
